About

Hello, my name is Paulo Querido. I’m a 49 year old Portuguese journalist and writer. Did almost everything in newspapers with a typewriter, a phone and a telex machine in the eighties, a CP/M computer and a CompuServe account in the eighties and the Internet in the nineties. I wrote a lot about technology and networking. Yes, a lot, enough. Now I prefer to code and teach.

This is my blog about the new skills a journalist can learn to do an effective job in a world totally full of data, as well as the effects of openness of information and governance around the world.

Skills &languages

I use mainly PHP and Linux shell scripting. A few Perl here and there. Learning Javascript now. I can run a server in a few minutes on the Amazon cloud services (AWS, EC2, S3). I know something about MySQL and Apache optimization.
